T1 Indoor Triathlon World Cup Liévin: Ukrainian Athletes Make Their Mark on the Global Stage
It was a high-octane weekend at the Arena Stade Couvert in Liévin, where the world’s top triathletes gathered for the first-ever T1 Indoor Triathlon World Cup — and Team Ukraine wasn’t just there to race, but to climb the global rankings.
A fast and furious qualification format saw five heats for both men and women, narrowing the field to 25 semifinalists per gender. Another 11 athletes joined through the repechage round, forming a top-36 ready to battle in the semis.
Among them — Vitalii Vorontsov and Sofiia Pryyma, both returning to Liévin after last year’s campaign where they finished 32nd overall. This time, the Ukrainians raised the bar.
Vorontsov finished 29th, shaving off crucial seconds and climbing 19 spots in the World Triathlon Rankings — swapping out his earlier points from Havana 2024 to notch a new personal best. Pryyma crossed the line in 31st, scoring her first points of the 2025 season and leaping an impressive 37 places up the global standings. It marks her strongest performance since September 2023.
Meanwhile, Eva and Dana Soroka, familiar names from Ukraine’s junior ranks, made their elite-level debut at a world-class event. After making a splash on the European stage earlier this year, the sisters stepped up to the world stage in Liévin. Despite missing out on the semifinals, Eva placed 37th and Dana 43rd, both collecting valuable points and improving their global rankings — a strong signal of what’s to come.
