Ukraine to be Represented at the Paralympics in Paris!

The World Triathlon Para Series in Montreal marked the final event in the Paralympic qualification, closing on July 1. The top nine athletes in the Paralympic ranking secure national slots. Ukrainian Alisa Kolpakchy, despite trailing in the swim, caught up during the cycling stage. She demonstrated the second-fastest run time, finishing third!

In the Paralympic ranking, Kolpakchy rose to sixth place, surpassing Poland’s Marta Dzietzentkowska, who finished sixth in Montreal. Kolpakchy concluded the qualification period with 1453 points, stemming from her fifth place at the World Championships and podium finishes in the Para Series events in Devonport and Montreal. Ukraine will be represented in the women’s PTS5 class at the Paralympics!

In the PTVI class, Vita Oleksiuk and guide Nataliia Matsupko secured seventh place in Montreal, ending the qualification period ranked 17th with 1134 points. Their points came from a tenth-place finish at the World Championships, a fifth place in the Devonport Para Series, and a podium finish at the Para World Cup in Taranto, Italy.

The Paris Paralympic Games will be the third for triathlon. Eleven medal sets will be contested by 120 participants, with nine from each Olympic group and the top five women from the PTS3 class. The remaining 16 slots will be filled by invitations from the IPC and World Triathlon.
